Gavin Whelan (born 28 October 1983 in Dublin) is an Irish footballer.

Whelan has played for the Bray Wanderers and Drogheda United F.C., both of the League of Ireland and signed a two-year deal to play for the IFA Premiership club Lisburn Distillery in 2009.[1]
In 2004 joined from Dublin UC to Drogheda.[2] The midfielder scored the first goal in the 2005 FAI Cup Final for Drogheda and was Man of the Match that day. Whelan played previously for Home Farm and University College Dublin A.F.C..[3]
Gavin is the grandson of Ronnie Whelan, Sr., son of Paul Whelan, and nephew of the legendary Irish International Ronnie Whelan.
